The model before this is the Core i9-9980XE. Both the models are 18-core 36-thread processors and compatible with the current X299 chipset motherboards. Major brownie points as to granting an advantage over AMD’s 3rd generation CPUs. The limelight about the Cascade Lake-X is its price parameters. It isn’t introducing innovative modules or architecture. This is a 14nm CPU just like the Core i9-9980XE and 7980XE before it. The prices are to watch out for making all the difference It is conflicting actually to tell which is better, but let’s look at them anyway. The ones that will lock horns are the Ryzen 9 3950X and Core i9-10980XE. Intel’s 18-core CPUs stand far out against the AMD’s previous Threadripper CPUs, but the new 16-core Zen is a gigantic leap for 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU.
We need to know that the Core i9-7980XE and Core i9-9980XE hit walls at 4.5GHz; however, we saw it overclock the Core i9-10980XE to a massive 4.7GHz across all cores with a vcore of 1.165V. Temperature heating was a problem though The battle between Intel and the Cascade Lake-X range is just a signatory of an evolving phase of CPUs that have made terrible choices. There are plenty of areas to improve, but with a price tag of $1,000 for a CPU, this is awesome. It will boil down to manufacturing and consistency over time to gauge the winner, but for now, Cascade Lake-X takes it.
