Upcoming MacBook Air & MacBook Pro With M2 Chipset
According to the latest update, the upcoming MacBook Air that was earlier expected to arrive with M1 will instead upgrade to an M2 chipset. The device carries codename J413 and it is likely to get an entry-level M2 chipset just like the next-generation Mac Mini as speculated. The chipset codenamed as ‘Staten’ is likely to have a 10-core GPU and an 8-core CPU onboard.
Note that I am talking about an entry-level M2 chipset that will replace the M1 chipset and not its pro and ultra variants which are more powerful than M2. The device is likely to upgrade its design as well although that remains to be seen. The next device in the news is the 13-inch MacBook Pro which is likely to bring an M2 chipset as well. It has a codename J493 and the Cupertino-based giant is speculated to keep the device afloat as an entry-level one, removing the Pro moniker.
Last week, Apple launched the all-powerful M1 Ultra chipset and soon, it will get M2-series chipsets which include entry-level M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max, and M2 Ultra. According to Ming-Chi Kuo. there’s a Mac mini in the works too although its release date has been postponed to 2023. Talking about MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by M2, both the devices are likely to arrive later this year as they are believed to be in advanced stages of development. Still, both the laptops should arrive sometime later this year.
