Free, Ad-supported Content
Started as a simple media player, Plex has grown gradually as an online streamer by procuring more and more movies and TV shows for free. It started ad-supported streaming service in December last year, and franchising media houses one by one. Starting with Warner Bros, it bought Lionsgate, Legendary, and MGM films. And now, it just onboarded Crackle, which is a partnership of Sony Pictures and Chicken Soup from Soul Entertainment. As a new update, Plex will now let you stream thousands of movies and TV shows from Crackle, its new partner. This content, too, will be interrupted by ads. Well, escaping ads from Plex can’t be avoided, even if you have Plex Pass, it’s the premium membership. Plex also hints about bringing new partners on board soon.
New Titles
The new addition will have some hit titles like Failure to Launch, The Illusionist, Patriot Games, Captain Phillips, etc. There are TV shows like Snatch, Roseanne, Hell’s Kitchen, etc. Further, Crackle has some original shows like Yelawolf: A Slumerican Life and On Point in it. All you need to do is to update the app and browse through Movies and TV section. While Plex is available in over 200 countries now, this newly added content can only be seen by US users for now. This may soon be available to users from other nations too. Source: Plex Blog
