Android 13 Based One UI 5 Beta
Over time, Samsung is improving at offering software updates to its devices. The company has already promised to deliver extended updates to the latest Galaxy devices, passing them more quickly than before. The latest one is the One UI 5 Beta based on Android 13 OS – rolling to Galaxy S22 smartphones in the US, South Korea, and Germany. It brings a bunch of features from stock Android 13, like the minor UI improvements and enhancements to security, notifications, the camera, etc., sections. This update will be significant to foldable phones, like the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 – coming on August 10th at Samsung’s Unpacked event. Yet, the regular models in Galaxy S22 series will see 12 new color options for the home screen, icons, and quick panels, plus the ability to stack widgets and save space on the home screen. Further, there are new accessibility options like a Magnifier for zooming in on texts and objects and the ability of the system to read your keyboard entries out loud. Aside from these, One UI 5 Beta imports a security feature from Android 13 – the need for apps to request users’ permission to show notifications. Also, a security dashboard to check and perform security and privacy actions. And lastly, there’s the flexibility for setting your preferred language on an app-by-app basis. Interested users can download the update from Samsung Members App to experience it, but consider the risks of running a beta version.
